Tan Son Nhat international airport was built in 1930. Its first flight was from Paris to Saigon in 1933, this flight lasted 18 days. During Vietnam War, the airport is the important military base of the US army and Air Force of the South Vietnam. After the April 30th event, this airport continues to expand and exploit domestic and international flights.
The airport Vietnam has two parallel runways, of which the 25R runway is 3048m long and 45m wide, the 25L runway has a length of 3800m and a width of 45m. The airport can accommodate many different aircrafts. The ground of this airport has 2 parts: the domestic terminal and the international terminal. After inaugurating the new terminal, the whole old international terminal was changed into the domestic terminal. The domestic terminal has 6 gates, 6 baggage carousels with the area over 20.000sqm. It can accommodate up to 6 million passengers each year.

The international terminal has the maximum capacity of 15 -17 million passengers each year with the total estimated cost of $260 million from ODA fund of Japanese Government. The terminal has the area of 93.000sqm and is equipped with 8 aviation concierge telescopes to serve wide body aircraft as B767. B777, A340 and two-story aircraft B747-400, 6 baggage carousels, 8 pedestrian conveyors, the flight information system, 18 escalators, 20 lifts, 43 screening machines, 20 aircraft gates that can accommodate 20 flights at the same time in the rush hour.
The international terminal of the Vietnam airport has three floors. The first floor has the area is the lounge area designed with full modern facilities and services for passengers. Also, there are duty-free stalls, souvenir stalls, restaurants, boarding lobby The second story is used for aviation procedures.

After completing customs procedure and the exit procedure, passengers can freely shop in the duty free stalls, use banking services, the child care room located along the corridor to the plane. And the last floor is office areas of many airlines, the resting area for passengers missing their flights with convenient services.
Currently, there are more than 45 airlines of countries flying to Tan Son Nhat international airport. Cube Pacific, Viva Macau and Air Asia are three latest airlines having the routes to this Vietnam international airport.
